The month of June seems to be full of our competitive paddler achievements!
On Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th June at Holme Pierrepont regatta lake, Nottingham was home to the "Open and British Paracanoe, Seniors and Masters’ National Championship" where Hannah Stephens from Cardiff Bay Kayakers put up a great fight in the horrendous windy, choppy regatta conditions.
As a result of Hannah and her crew boat partner Katie from Wiltshire Youth Kayaking club's hard efforts, the girls placed a strong third position, medalling bronze in the Women's Open K2 200m.
It was great to see how well the ladies performed racing up against the Olympic Regional Squad crew boat of Deberah Kerr and Emily Lewis, and also the crew boat of Amy Burgess and Zoe Clark who placed second.
Excellent achievement, Hannah! We wish you the best of luck at the next regatta and for the rest of the season.
This regatta was one in a series of five National Sprint Regattas that are held annually at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham over a weekend during March, April, June, July and September. Around 300 races are held over the two days and competitors can race in a variety of categories in either a racing kayak; K1, K2 and K4, or a racing canoe; C1 and C2, over distances of 200m, 500m and 1000m.
