Farewell, stupendous #ShePaddles Cymru Ambassadors of 2022/23!

Lydia Wilford • Oct 12, 2023

It's always tough to say goodbye to a group of amazing people, especially when they have been such an asset to a programme like #ShePaddles Cymru. This year's ambassadors have been an absolute pleasure to work with, and their passion for inspiring women and girls to get on the water has been truly heartening. In addition to being excellent ambassadors, it's great to hear that these three ladies have personally developed during their time in the programme. Hannah and QB have both gained Paddlesports Leaders qualifications, while Dani has become a Paddlesport Instructor. These coaching qualifications will undoubtedly enable them to inspire even more people to get involved in paddlesports. While it's sad to see them go as ambassadors, it's wonderful to know that they will still be involved in the programme as volunteers. Their hard work and dedication over the last year have not gone unnoticed, and we want to thank them for their contributions. Canoe Wales wishes them all the best in their future endeavours.

“I have had an absolutely amazing time being an ambassador. Being part of the events and ShePaddles training weekend has opened my eyes to what an incredible, varied, community of women paddlers there is.

Having the backing of the She Paddles Cymru team has inspired me to step up and feel confident enough to run a regular programme of Women’s community sessions, talk to everyone I meet about how cool paddling is, and personally, increase my own teaching skills to offer to others.

My time as an ambassador has been a springboard, giving me the tools and the ‘in’ to share our collective mission of getting people paddling. The ripples will spread and benefit to the community will grow as long as I have life and a paddle in my hands!” QB - 2023 Ambassador

“I have had the most exciting and active year of my life representing Canoe Wales as a ShePaddles Cymru Ambassador. I’m proud of the work I have done, including helping a small but mighty club secure £10k of new boats to fit the rising demand from women and girls, volunteering at the ShePaddles Cymru Festivals, and achieving my Paddlesports instructor award! I’m so in love with kayaking and I’ll continue as a Canoe Wales volunteer for as long as they’ll have me”

Dani - 2023 Ambassador

“To be continued ……..”
