Throughout the UK the aim was to reach a total of 45,000 miles paddled. This total was smashed with 57,674 miles paddled by canoeists, paddleboarders, rafters, sea kayakers, tourers and whitewater kayakers across the UK.
Within Wales, 45,33 miles were registered, with the amazing Want to Canoe? of Hay-on-Way managing 3,942 of those miles. One impressive Welsh paddler, Rhys Potter, won the Top Junior Male Mileage prize for the UK by clocking up 100 miles and has a Palm Jacket making its way out to him.
In Wales we are fortunate to have numerous opportunities to get out and paddle. Check out our where to paddle
page to find info about where to get out and paddle more in different locations. If you're at a loss of who to go with you can find a club
with our club finder or come along to an event listed on our events
page.
While 4533 miles in 2018 was a great achievement within Wales, we know we can easily go further next year by logging what we do and keeping track for one week. National Go Canoeing Week 2019 runs from May 25th through to June 2nd. Mark your calendars!

If you can’t wait till then why not take part in the August Paddling Challenge? This challenge has the aim of paddling 30 or 60 miles over the month.
