Extra financial support available to outdoor sector from Welsh Government

Canoe Wales • Oct 27, 2020

Additional funding now available for those working in paddlesport and outdoor recreation who need financial support due to the COVID-19 crisis

Further to the support given by Canoe Wales, the Outdoor Alliance and many other organisations to the #SaveOutdoorEducation campaign, Welsh Government has clarified this morning (27 October) that all WG funding to outdoor employees and businesses is to be channelled via the Economic Resilience Fund. This was announced by Finance Minister Rebecca Evans on Friday 23 October and Phase 3 of the fund is due to launch on Wednesday 28 October.

The ERF Phase 3 Business Development Grant will open for applications on Wednesday 28 October, and remain open until 25 November 2020 or until funds are fully committed. Funding will cover the period from October 2020 to 31 March 2021. Use the Eligibility Checker tool to check whether you're able to apply for a business development grant: fundchecker.businesswales.gov.wales/erfphase3

The third phase of ERF also includes a Lockdown Business Fund which will be delivered by local authorities. Please note that eligibility for grants is linked to occupying business property/paying rates, so this may only be suitable for a sub-section of clubs, centres and providers:

Evans also called on employers to use an extra £10 million of Welsh Government funding to protect workers at risk of falling through a gap in the UK government wage support schemes: gov.wales/extra-10-million-package-help-protect-jobs-and-those-struggling-financially
