Thanks to everyone who joined the AGM on Monday evening. It was a bumper turnout with 80 booking on and 65 in attendance on the night. We got straight into the bulk of the formal AGM with a detailed update on the process which was followed to develop our new 2024-28 Strategy document by our Chair, Kerry Chown. She spoke about the changing nature of sport and activity and how Canoe Wales will need to continue to develop to meet the needs of the future. Some of these developments may include a fresh brand and identity which better reflects the inclusive nature of paddling as an activity. Nothing has been agreed yet and we will be in touch with more information as things progress!
Alistair Dickson, CEO, followed with a detailed update regarding the association’s work over the past 18 months and Andy Booth, Finance Director, followed and gave an overview of the financial health of Canoe Wales and Canoe Wales Sales and Services.
Emily Evans, SUP Lead, finished the evening with an update on Canoe Wales’ progress with the development of effective governance, training standards and safety messaging.
Following a few questions, the evening finished at around 8:30pm.
Alistair Dickson, CEO, following the night said ‘We’d like to thank all members for coming along and we really hope they found it useful. It was really beneficial for us to hear members’ views and to answer some questions. As ever, it helps us really understand where members would like us to increase our support and focus more going forwards. I’d like to thank all the staff and Board for their hard work pulling it all together and we look forward to meeting members again at our Roadshows later this year.’
