Mental Health Awareness and Mental Health First Aid courses accepted as CPD

We know that many Instructors, Coaches and Leaders already recognise the importance of mental health training. Widely available training opportunities help to raise the awareness of mental health issues, support you in providing great instructing, coaching and leading experiences to others, as well as supporting you in looking after yourself.

Log on to your membership record, upload your certificate and as soon as the credential has been approved you will be awarded CPD points:

• Mental Health Awareness – you will be awarded 5 CPD points – this credential can include eLearning, awareness training or other relevant training with guided learning hours of 4 hours (or less)
• Mental Health First Aid – you will be awarded 10 CPD points – this credential is for relevant training with over 4 guided learning hours

The training must have been completed in the last 3 years.

To add your training to your membership record:

1. Log in to your membership profile here.
2. Go to My Profile > Credentials > Add Credentials.
3. Add either the Mental Health Awareness or the Mental Health First Aid credential, fill in the course details and upload your certificate copy.
4. Your credential will be reviewed by Canoe Wales. Once it is approved, you will be awarded your CPD points.

We recommend all Instructors, Coaches, Leaders and Guides stay current through Continuous Professional Development. 

Note: Mental Health First Aid is not a replacement for emergency/casualty-based First Aid training.
