Improving access on the River Taff at Pontypridd

Neil Kinnerly • Apr 19, 2022

Our new Talent Pathway Officer in the South, James Pigdon, is making great progress working together with local clubs and identifying new sites for development. He’s currently working with our Places to Paddle Manager, Phil Stone, to establish new training venues at Pontypridd and Radyr Weir which will support development in the area.

Over the Easter weekend, members of Cardiff Canoe Club had a session on the River Taff in the centre of Pontypridd in glorious sunshine, as you can see from these photos. With support from Canoe Wales, Cardiff Canoe Club has submitted a grant application to the Canoe Foundation with a view to improving access to this stretch of water via Ynysangharad Park. Hopefully this will enable all year round use.
