Canoe Wales Celebrates Pride with Out & Wild Festival 2022

Pride Month saw Out & Wild Festival 2022; the UK's first ever Wellbeing Festival for queer, questioning and curious women and those who are non-binary.

The festival was held right here in Wales alongside the River Cleddau at Lawrenny; Pembrokeshire and Canoe Wales member and Paddlesports Leader Clare Rutter was asked to organise and lead a paddle boarding provision as part of the Sports element of the weekend's wellbeing programme. She devised a series of intro sessions and guided paddles for the participants in advance with support and equipment provided by Canoe Wales to help bring it all to reality. Together with her team of enthusiastic and motivated volunteer coaches; Myshel, Denyse & Lily-Rose, the equipment and sessions were set up ready to go.

Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas and 3 of the 4 planned paddles were unable to go ahead. The one session that did run was absolutely fantastic with smiles and laughter all round, memories made with new journeys and adventures into paddlesport had truly begun! The festival overall was a resounding success and plans are already in the making for Out & Wild Festival 2023, again with a paddlesports provision! The tickets are already available online through the below link, so get yourself in the guest list and join us for a fun and laughter filled day of inclusive activity to cleanse the mind, body and soul.
