Canoe Wales awarded Equality Standard Intermediate

Canoe Wales • Jul 22, 2019

We are proud to announce that Canoe Wales was awarded the Intermediate Level of the Equality Standard for Sport on 10 July 2019. In praising our achievements to promote equality throughout paddlesport in Wales, the panel stated that 'the evidence submitted clearly demonstrates the commitment to equality throughout the organisation and that equality is starting to become embedded.'

We're excited to continue our work on equality as we head into Year 1 of our new strategic plan, which includes a focus on encouraging more women and girls to join our clubs and pursue coaching and leadership qualifications.

About the Equality Standard for Sport

The Equality Standard measures an NGB's progress toward embedding equality into its policies, culture and activities. In order to achieve the intermediate level, we had to show progress toward the following three outcomes:

Outcome 1 - Your organisation can demonstrate that it is implementing and reviewing the equality action plan and has collected updated profile data

Outcome 2 – Your organisation's internal policies and procedures consider the impact on people who share protected characteristics

Outcome 3 – Your organisation is working towards increasing the diversity of people participating / using its services (members/ participants).
