Ambassadors needed for #ShePaddles

Share your love of paddlesport and inspire other women and girls to participate!

Applications are now open for 2020 #ShePaddles Ambassadors! If you want to share your love of paddlesport and inspire other women and girls to participate, you could be just who we are looking for.

We are looking for ten women who are passionate about paddling to become #ShePaddles Ambassadors. This year British Canoeing has teamed up with Canoe Wales and the Scottish Canoe Association (SCA) to expand the ambassador programme.

Do you have a great story to share about your journey into paddlesport? Do you feel you can be a role model for other women? Do you love shouting about paddling on social media - the great bits and the tricky bits?!

If you've answered 'yes' to the questions above then we would love to hear from you. We don't mind whether you're a recreational paddler, new to the sport, a coach, leader or athlete... we just want people who love paddling!

If you are a woman, aged sixteen or over, with an infectious enthusiasm for paddling you could be who we are looking for!

What is #ShePaddles?

#ShePaddles is an initiative that aims to get more women and girls paddling. And not just paddling... we want to see them progress into coaching and leadership roles too. Find out more via:

What’s in it for you?

We know you don’t need extra motivation to do what you do but we like to thank our ambassadors for sharing their experiences. If you become one of our ambassadors you can expect from us:
  • Some rather cool kit! We are working with Palm Equipment to bring you some fantastic gear for both on and off the water.
  • Free entry to the 2020 ECA Canoe Slalom European Championships! Our ambassador launch day will be on Sunday 17th May, at this huge event! Not only do you get free entry to watch the best slalom athletes in the world compete, you will also meet your fellow awesome ambassadors and hopefully get some time on the water.
  • Lots of big shoutouts from us! We want to share the love and raise your profile too.
What do you need to do?

The most important thing about being a women’s paddling ambassador is to enjoy it! Relax, do what you always do and have fun. We just have a few asks for you to fulfil throughout the year:
  • Be the noise! One social media, YouTube or blog post a month. Shared using the hashtags #shepaddles and #shepaddlescymru, and with us tagged into the post. Don’t be afraid to post more often on social media. The more you post the better!
  • Get the chatter going! Be active on the Facebook community page: Women’s Paddling Community. You don’t need to post all the time but just popping in and answering the odd question or sharing your inspiring stories and ideas would be great.
  • Use your voice! One article to be provided for use in our paddling magazines and on our websites. You don’t need to be a word wizard, you can just give us the content and we will write the article if you prefer. It could be around personal experience or an advice/skills based article.
If this sounds like something you would like to be involved with, we want to hear from you!
