2023 Annual General Meeting

The 2023 Canoe Wales Annual General Meeting was postponed and shall be taking place on Mon 15th January 2024, at the same time (7pm) and by Zoom.

Due to the increased attendance holding this meeting virtually, we will be again holding this year's AGM via Zoom.

Notice of 2023 AGM

As you will probably know, our AGM was scheduled for Monday 13th November 2023 and scheduled to take place by Video Conference/Zoom. The AGM is now postponed and shall be taking place on Mon 15th January 2024 at the same time (7pm) and by Zoom.

The Board of Directors would like to provide you with these reasons for the postponement:

  1. The new 2023 Audit Regulations and guidance have led to unforeseen delays finalising the 2022/23 Canoe Wales Accounts. Therefore, a short delay of the AGM will provide enough time to complete the Finance Report and present the 2022/23 Accounts ready for member review before the AGM.
  2. The new 2024-28 Canoe Wales Strategy has been completed and is now ready for member consultation. The strategy documents can be found below in both English and Welsh. We believe a short delay will provide you with the opportunity to review the strategy document before the AGM and provide us with your feedback at the meeting.
  3. Many of you will probably already know, that British Canoeing have completed a brand review and are preparing to launch a new brand. As part of this process, there is an opportunity for Canoe Wales to adopt a new brand name as part of the broader UK brand architecture. No decisions have been made yet, but we would like to gather further information about what this could mean to Canoe Wales members before we discuss this with you and develop a decision-making process via a vote.

We hope you understand and support the reasons for the short postponement. If you have already booked onto the AGM, you do not need to do anything, and your booking will move to the new date and time. The meeting will be followed by an informal Q&A session with members of the Board of Directors and Staff

All On the Water and On the Bank members over the age of 16 are entitled to vote at the AGM - and all other members of Canoe Wales are welcome to attend. You will need to
book online via our Member Portal to secure your free ticket to the AGM, and then closer to the date of the event we will send you a Zoom link to access the meeting. You should not need any special software to access the meeting as Zoom allows you to attend in your web browser, but you will need a reliable internet connection and speakers, and preferably an integrated microphone and video camera if you would like to actively participate in the meeting. If you have any questions or concerns about how to join the meeting online, please contact us at admin@canoewales.com and we can provide you with support in advance of the meeting.

When registering your attendance, we will ask you to submit any questions for the Q&A session in advance to help us plan the evening and ensure we answer everyone's questions. There will also be an online chat function available to ask questions on the day, but we will give priority to questions submitted in advance.

The AGM Agenda and Papers are available to read below.

If you are a voting member and for any reason you are unable to attend, then you are entitled to appoint a proxy to attend and vote in your place but clicking the link below to fill out the Proxy Form.

All documents are available in large print or alternative formats, on request.
