Swansea University Fisheries research team are deploying fyke nets and a rotary screw trap (RST) in the Wye valley to capture and tag salmon smolts. This is to further understand their migration patterns in the River Wye and across the Bristol Channel. This will be running from mid-March into early May. Nets and RSTs will only be fishing overnight, typically from dusk to dawn i.e. 6pm to 6am. During fishing, nets will be manned by Swansea University staff, with help from the Wye and Usk Foundation.
