Mary Jones cottage to Dysynni confluence

2.5 km class III; low bridge and fences

Just at the end of the Gamallt gorge on the Dysynni is a small turning that goes up to the village of Llanfihangel-y-pennant, passing en-route the monument of Castell y Bere. By continuing on the road and then a track it is possible to follow the river on its true right bank for some way. Here it is possible to launch onto an excellent series of class III rapids which lead down and under the road bridge. They need a fair amount of rain to make them worthwhile. After this the rapids ease off to the odd class II en-route to the Dysynni, though there is one weir to contend with as well. There were a couple of fences that required caution and one low bridge which you may have to duck. Finish at the following road bridge or further down the Dysynni. Above the access is a 15 foot fall that is quite fun to paddle, but has quite a stiff stopper to punch through.
