Access:

From the C road linking Talybont-on-Usk to Pontsticill

Notes:

Three fences need portaging

Quality:

A small spate stream worth doing if you happen to be passing. The upper section is apparently a great class V run but I haven’t managed to drag myself upstream with a boat. The river eventually flows into the Usk at Talybont-on-Usk.

Forest Walk bridge to Talybont-on-Usk Reservoir

4 km II to III

This small stream is included for completeness and is probably only worth doing if passing. Three large deer fences spoil what otherwise would be a good spate run for its grade.

That said, if the water is brown and the rocks covered, start at the bridge about four kilometres above Talybont reservoir GR063170. The water is fine and fast enough but I found the fences a nuisance. Three portages were required at time of writing. Deer fences cannot be sneaked under. Take out at the reservoir GR089178. and head down to the Star in the village for some sustenance.
