A gentle, lazy, summer afternoon paddle. Suitable for well-led newcomers. Pyllau-cochion Bridge to Brynwgan Bridge 5 km grade I; one weir
A couple of miles to the east of Llandeilo is a turning off towards Talley, the B4302. There are two turnings within 50 metres of each other on the right, about six kilometres upstream of Rhosmaen. The first of the two provides good access onto the river GR656288. From here down peaceful meanders pass through beautiful countryside and under several small bridges. As long as the boat will float this can be done most times during the year and is an excellent beginners’ trip. It is best avoided in flood. There is one weir, strangely out of place, which is safe to shoot anywhere at low to medium level. This is just above the get-out and is obvious from the river. Egress just below the little broken step just beneath the following road bridge, reached by turning first right up the B4302 from Llandeilo GR645254. |
