Pont Clydach to Church Road bridge

3 km grade IV to V

Take the A4069 Brynamman to Llangadog road which crosses this raging stream at Pont Clydach GR739196. It is possible to access here or, by walking in via the Foel Fawr (Herbert) Quarries, get upstream without too much effort. The higher you go, the harder it is. The river, like so many others of its genre, rises and falls incredibly quickly with rain. It is continuous and incredibly fast down to the first wooded section, where egress is possible up the footpath to the road at GR733203. One fence needed portaging at time of writing but, with a bit of luck, may since have been washed away. Though I haven’t done it, the run down to the Church road bridge is, apparently, a fast and furious grade III with the occasional tree to dodge. Egress at footpath GR727218.
