Afon Arth Nearby Rivers: Newquay Area - Teifi, Aeron and Arth
"The river would be a brilliant run but it is ruined by fallen trees": this is what I wrote in the White Water Runs series back in ‘94. I gather that during the winter of ‘97- ‘98 things much improved. I look forward to a return journey when I am next out west. Pennant to Aberarth 5 km class IV
Take the B4577 Aberarth to Pennant road where access can be made onto the spate by a little bridge, GR513631. This is by a particularly pleasant little pub. The run is a classic class IV paddle full of drops, falls, slides and shoots. However, be cautious, because when I ran it in ‘94 many trees crisscrossed the river which certainly dampened the spirits and darkened the gloom. Egress above or below the excellent Corsica-like falls in town GR479638. |
