The original Welsh Rivers Guidebook released in the 90's was an amazing piece of work for Chris Sladden to have completed. It highlighted the sheer variety of water (mainly white!) in Wales and inspired a generation of paddlers.
Canoe Wales has been very grateful to Chris for him allowing us to display the original text on our website and it is one of the highest areas visited.
On the 7th and 8th of July, a new version of The Welsh Rivers is being launched at Cardiff International White Water
. At this event, you'll be able to paddle with the new authors Patrick Clissold and Tom Laws along with Chris Sladden. The event combines music, food and paddling, and we hope, a bit of good weather.
The authors along with LowePro are holding a photo competition-yes, you need to bring an actual photo! There are three themes for the photo's:
- Wales is for paddling
- Paddlers Welcome
- Should'a read the guidebook

If you don't make it to the event, the book goes on general sale the week after on 14th of July. For more information on the book, and the launch you can visit thewelshrivers.com
