COACHING STATEMENT 24/06/2009 I am happy to report, that following a positive meeting with Sports Coach UK (The agency responsible for the delivery of UKCC) and the BCU, Canoe Wales has agreed to re-engage with the BCU National Source Group. This is on the basis that the BCU and its home nations constituent organisations will shortly be undertaking a satisfactory review to address the concerns of coaches and from our point of view those of Canoe Wales members. We will update you in relation to the review process when we are able to. The Advice to all coaches and course candidates at present is to continue to progress with their current coaching courses and coaching progression in the current system during this review. In addition, the results of the review or changes of the scheme that may come from it will not invalidate results or qualifications obtained in the present scheme. I will endeavour to bring you more information at regional meetings when the nature of the review becomes more apparent. From a personal point of view it is good to see that the concerns of Canoe Wales’ Members, Clubs and Coaches are being addressed and that progress in the right direction is being made. Nige
