Canoe Wales is the national governing body for paddle sport in Wales. We:

  • Manage the National White Water Centre which is located on the river Tryweryn in Bala, North Wales
  • Represent the interests of our club and individual members
  • Advocate on behalf of the interests of the sport in Wales
  • Provide coaching and development programmes from local to international level
  • Stage national and international competitions.

Coach Registration

Before you can attend any BCU coaching courses, you must register with Canoe Wales. For all new UKCC endorsed courses the required form is the Coach Registration Form (CR Form); courses from the old coaching scheme (such as the BCU Level 5) require a C1 form just as before. Whichever form is required, it must be processed prior to your attendance at the course, so please allow at least two weeks before the start of the course. The coach registration process described below applies to both forms.

When sending in the form, you will be required to provide the following:

  • proof of any prerequisites for the award for which you are registering (photocopies are acceptable)
  • payment of the registration fee (cheques should be made payable to Canoe Wales)
  • proof of comprehensive Canoe Wales membership or appropriate membership fee (not required for registration at Level 1, though the registration fee is less for comprehensive CW members)

On receipt of your form, we will check that you have the required level of membership, prerequisites and have paid the correct registration fee. Once we are satisfied, we will stamp your form and return it to you. Stamped CR forms are returned with the appropriate logbook, while stamped C1 forms are returned with a C2 form. You should keep the stamped CR or C1 Form in your logbook and it should be taken to your course, along with original copies of all relevant certificates and proof of membership where appropriate.
