Canoe Wales is the national governing body for paddle sport in Wales. We:

  • Manage the National White Water Centre which is located on the river Tryweryn in Bala, North Wales
  • Represent the interests of our club and individual members
  • Advocate on behalf of the interests of the sport in Wales
  • Provide coaching and development programmes from local to international level
  • Stage national and international competitions.

Affiliating your club with Canoe Wales

What are the advantages of affiliating with Canoe Wales?

Senior Club Affiliation

The fee for senior club affiliation is based on the number of Canoe Wales members and non-members within the club. You’ll need to pay affiliation fees annually - normally on 1st April each year. Any members who join your club after April 1st will be covered on Canoe Wales insurance, although you won’t need to pay until the following year.

Please contact us for registration forms. You’ll need to list all club members, including individual Canoe Wales members and non-paddling social members, although we won’t include them when we calculate your fees. You’ll need to keep a register of everyone who canoes in your club to fulfil insurance obligations.

Our fees are £7 for an adult club member who isn't already a Canoe Wales member, £5 for a junior member and £12 for a family (no matter what size). We’ll try to find the cheapest option for the club.

Once you’ve completed the registration forms, we’ll send you an invoice. When you pay it, we’ll send you a copy of your insurance certificate and your membership cards.

Junior Club Affiliation

Junior clubs are defined as:

  • Clubs with a predominantly junior membership (under 18), like schools and youth groups, or
  • clubs with a closed membership due to the nature of their establishment, like colleges, university clubs and armed forces clubs.

As well as the benefits of club membership at the top of the page, you’ll also get two adult comprehensive memberships for club leaders. Junior clubs must also keep a register of everyone paddling with the club to fulfil insurance obligations.

In comparison to senior clubs, access to the club coach education scheme is limited.

Junior club affiliation fees are £100 per year, including two adult comprehensive memberships which are currently worth £70.00.
