About Canoe Wales

We’re here to support and encourage Paddlesport in Wales. We have over 1800 individual members and more than 2000 affiliated club and centre members, and our role is to help them get out on the water.

Our head offices are just outside Bala, where we manage  the National White Water Centre – the country’s most reliable section of grade 3-4 whitewater.

How Canoe Wales works

We have a board of directors, an access team of 30 voluntary workers and a coaching and competitions committee which handles the coaching structure and competitive disciplines. We employ eight full-time employees, as well as part-time and casual staff.

Our directors take responsibility for our direction and policy, steering Canoe Wales in the right direction and representing our members' interests. Our board holds our progress up against ten performance indicators in eight different areas, and they have the powers to make sure we’re doing things right for our membership.

Our officers handle the day-to-day decisions between board meetings, which means keeping the organisation running smoothly and supporting our employees. The board always listens hard to our people when they’re forming Canoe Wales policy.
